I'm a reformed career hater. Okay, maybe hate is too strong a word but I did spend the better part of my career feeling like a fraud working as a Human Resources Manager in Corporate America. Sure I enjoyed parts of my job, but grew to despise others - the sometimes soulless parts of a profession I stumbled into. Today, I couldn't be happier and more engaged.
my story
Growing up I didn’t know what I wanted to “be” so, I floated around trying to figure it out for almost a decade.
Fashion school? How glamorous, sign me up!
Community college for general education? Sure, sounds practical!
Travel industry trade school? Of course – take me away!
Eventually I ended up in business school with a degree in Management. I chose it because it seemed safe. And what started out as a temp job in HR became a 20+ year career. I’ve done it all, the good, the bad and the ugly parts of Human Resources – then, at about year 15 — something changed.
I cried a lot driving to work. My relationships were fractured from lack of care and attention. My health suffered from the stress. I ran from one bad job to an even worse one. I was losing myself and I was miserable.
Have you ever felt this way?
Something needed to change. I took a step back and really examined the parts of my profession I felt most connected to and that brought me true joy. I realized there was nothing more gratifying for me than helping people be their best and soar to new heights. So, I reached out to my network and I asked for their help. The ideal role surfaced and I took the job that offered me the ability to express these passions –the job that became my avenue for deep personal and professional growth.
It didn’t happen overnight but it happened pretty fast. Once I got clear on my values, what I wanted, and then put it out into the world, doors began to open. And they continue to open.
My Approach
I wholeheartedly believe we all deserve to do the work that allows us to express our passion.
While most of us don’t learn how to achieve this alignment in school, with coaching, together we’ll create your ideal career map and you’ll have my supportive partnership, encouragement and guidance every step of the way.
How We get there
We start by uncovering all the nuances of where you’ve been in your career, what you’ve loved — and, loved not so much.
We get to the bottom of what’s really imperative to you, not only in what you do but where you do it and for whom.
We learn what you care about so much that time escapes you when you’re involved with it.
Next, we take all this knowledge, figure out how to monetize it, and we come up with a strategy for how andwherecan you get paid to do the work you love.
Ah, it’s your ultimate career bliss in the making!
